In an effort to do their part to fight the housing crisis in Central Maine, a businessman from Starks, and his business partner, are hoping to construct a large apartment building on Route 133 in Farmington.

According to the KJ, the three story, 25 unit, apartment building will have 14 one bedroom apartments and 11 studio apartments.  The building will sit on a 1 1/2 acre lot.

Stephen Hopkins, of Starks, is spearheading the project.  He is getting help with the endeavor from Stephen Danner of Massachusetts' real estate agency Stanley Lester Realty.

In the article, Hopkins explains that the building will have some really nice, higher end, features like granite countertops and stainless steel appliances.  The building will also have an elevator and common green spaces.

Once all of the permits have been approved, they hope to break ground at some point this summer and have the apartments ready for rental by summer 2023.  When they near the completion date, they plan to "pre-lease" the units.

In addition to providing housing for workers at the nearby hospital, the apartments could also become an alternative to staff and students at the University of Maine Farmington.
