SANTA ANA, CA — Two people were arrested in connection to a fatal mobile home fire that killed a man and woman in Santa Ana, police announced Thursday.

The Santa Ana Police Department did not release the names of the two people arrested but said the first person was arrested Monday in Barstow, and the second person was arrested Wednesday in Appley Valley. Santa Ana police were aided in the arrests by the Barstow Police Department and the San Bernadino County Sheriff's Department.

"The diligent and tireless work by our homicide unit, along with collaborative efforts of additional Santa Ana Police Department units and outside law enforcement agencies, brought this double homicide investigation to an arrest resolution," Santa Ana Police Chief David Valentin said.

Santa Ana police said Orange County Fire Authority crews responded to a mobile home park in the 5000 block of McFadden Avenue around 10:14 p.m. on Friday. Firefighters extinguished the flames within 30 minutes of their arrival.

During an initial search of the home, firefighters discovered a man had died in the blaze, the Santa Ana police said.

Investigators determined the fire was intentionally set. Authorities found a woman's body underneath debris at the mobile home during a follow-up visit.

Police have not identified the man and woman, and their deaths are being treated as homicides.

Anyone with information on the fire can call the Santa Ana Police Department at 714-245-8390. Tips can be sent anonymously to Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-847-6227.
